Cell Phone Addiction-A View from The Other Side

Came across this article from a couple of close buds on G+, +Dirk Reul and +Scott Cramer.

The Addiction - The Huffington Post

This HuffPost article details cellphone addiction from the viewpoint of someone not addicted to a cellphone. The author, as an outside observer to this phenomenon, describes in detail just how disconnected people can become from physical reality and, as never been affected by it, how better off he is for it.

While the author has some good points, I, (as someone who can honestly say he is addicted to his cellphone,) can say the benefits of owning such a device have far outweYighed the negatives. Keeping in touch with loved ones instantaneously, (via phone/text/Twitter/FB/G+/etc.,) is a huge plus in my book, when up until about 15 years ago that kind of communication each was in the realm of science fiction. Even the ultra wealthy individuals who could afford primitive cellphones could not have imagined the level of information available to anyone at this day and age.

I do have to give the author credit for staying cellphone free as long as he has, and wish him the best of luck in maintaining the status quo. When he does get a cellphone, (not if,) I do hope he can keep himself from becoming addicted to it as many of us have.

Fat chance of that, as he has admitted a weakness to chocolate...and we all know too well that chocolate is a gateway dug to cellphone addiction, right???

I'm just saying...

So what say you?
