Deep thoughts on my mobile internet addiction

There aren't that many things in this world that will cause me to pause and reflect on my current state of affairs.  The following video is one of those things.

Fare Thee Well, Google Reader

The plug is being pulled as we speak.

YouTube Video Addressing Internet Addiction Symptoms

Came across a video in my nightly YouTube crawl that is very topical to this blog.  If you are not already subscribed to SourceFed or SourceFedNERD, (or any of the Phillip DeFranco channels, especially The Phillip DeFranco Show,) I recommend you do so immediately!  Highly entertaining material, I tell you what!

But I digress.

I fear the future is already here. It's not pretty.

Apologies for being away from my blog.  Been concentrating on the employment front, which has yet to resolve itself positively...and going through a mild depression is definitely not making things easier.  And yet, I thankfully had the forethought to save some very topical webcomics to share with y'all for just such an occasion.

I fear the future is already here.  It's not pretty.

True Love...Mobile Internet Style

At night no one comforts me like you do.  Dare I say...this is love...true love...sigh.

This is me on way too many nights that I care to recall.  Yeah, I know.  I'll be Forever alone.

A Little Off Topic Post...

I want to take a little time to bring awareness to a great fundraiser that is currently being held by +Bearman Cartoons .  (Yeah, the very same Bearman that "mugged" me a couple of weeks ago, a prize mugging that is currently on display as my current avatar on all Google properties.  Woohoo!!!)

Technology: Liberator or Jailer?

Many people would argue that technology has empowered us and given us a sense of freedom the likes we have never experienced. It's true that our mobile internet devices have allowed us to break free from the proverbial shackles of home internet service, giving us the ability to roam the virtual world while we roam the physical world...

...but did we just trade in an old pair of shackles for some fancy new ones?

Google/Nielsen Report on How Mobile Drives Conversion

Came across this great report written up by Google/Nielsen that very finely details what I have known for some time but could not eloquently express to either myself or others.

Sadly this is exactly how it's gonna go down at the office when Google Glasses become mainstream.

Bill Gate's Said What?

The following Phoneog.com article is a great take on Bill Gate's recent interview in which he claims Windows Phone and WP8's execution was "...clearly a mistake." When the founder and chairman of Microsoft calls one of its products as a mistake, one would be wise to listen.

Cell Phone Addiction-A View from The Other Side

Came across this article from a couple of close buds on G+, +Dirk Reul and +Scott Cramer.

The Addiction - The Huffington Post

This HuffPost article details cellphone addiction from the viewpoint of someone not addicted to a cellphone. The author, as an outside observer to this phenomenon, describes in detail just how disconnected people can become from physical reality and, as never been affected by it, how better off he is for it.

Never Lose Your Keys...Or Cyber Stalking Made Easy?

Interesting little gadget...the Gizmodo article (below) details a new nano technology (well, maybe not nano...micro, perhaps?) that allows people to track objects via Bluetooth signals on their smartphones. (Currently Android and iOS only.)  These transmitters can be attached to anything, from car keys to wallets to expensive jackets/coats/etc. In short, anything you want to keep a track of short-range. Im'a gonna need about a dozen of these little gizmos for everything I don't want to be losing...including my mind!

This has a lot of potential for good...and for bad!
